36 Quai des Orfèvres

Forse la questura più famosa del mondo. Da questo austero portone sono passati alcuni dei poliziotti più celebri della letteratura, da Maigret a scendere. Grandi libri e grandi film.
Il “36” fa parte della Direzione di Polizia Giudiziaria interna alla Prefettura di Polizia della città di Parigi, che fa parte dell’enorme complesso del Palazzo di Giustizia  sull’Île de la Cité, nel cuore stesso della Ville Lumière. La Grande Boîte o il 36 o la Maison Pointue come viene spesso chiamata, è un palazzo austero che affaccia sulla Senna.
Le tre brigate più importanti della polizia sono domiciliate al 36:
• la Brigata Criminale, la celebre Crim o BC, scala A, terzo e quarto piano,  che, oltre agli omicidi e ai rapimenti con domanda di riscatto, è incaricata di indagare su incendi dolosi, attentati e su tutti gli affari di una certa sensibilità che coninvolgano personalità importanti. Ha competenza su Parigi e prima periferia e conta 110 uomini circa, divisi in tre sezioni di diritto comune, suddivise in tre gruppi d’indagine ciascuna e una sezione antiterrorismo, divisa in tre gruppi d’inchiesta;
• la Brigata Stupefacenti, per gli amici la Stup o la BDS, il cui ruolo è quello di contrastare e smantellare le reti di traffico di stupefacenti e di sequestrare la droga alle gang. Ogni anno svariate tonnellate di sostanze illecite vengono sequestrate e distrutte dagli uomini della Stup;
•la Brigata di Ricerca e Intervento, detta anche BRI o l’Antigang, in pratica le Teste di Cuoio della polizia francese. È una briga centrale che dipende direttamente dalla Prefettura di Polizia. In caso di crisi, questa unità, che conta normalmente 48 membri, puo raggruppare fino a 72 poliziotti in assetto BRI-BAC (Brigata Anti Commando) con l’apporto di altre unità della Prefettura di Polizia. La BRI interviene di regola per contrastare gruppi criminali che compiano atti gravi di banditismo come rapine a mano armata, sequestri e presa di ostaggi. Disponendo di equipaggiamento di sorveglianza e ascolto all’avanguardia, sono anche incaricati di raccogliere e archiviare qualsiasi informazione inerente al banditismo. Per fare questo sono in grado di mettere in piedi sistemi di sorveglianza e pedinamenti discreti che possono durare giorni o settimane.
Il quai des Orfèvres e i poliziotti che vi lavorano hanno ispirato decine di romanzi polizieschi e diversi film, l’ultimo dei quali, 36 quai des Orfèvres (2004), di Olivier Marechal, con Gérard Depardieu e Daniel Auteuil, ha avuto un discreto successo di pubblico.

The “36” is a division of the Direction of the Judicial Police inside of the Police Prefecture of Paris that is part of the huge Court of Justice  on the Île de la Citè in the very heart of the Ville Lumière. The Grande Boîte or 36 or the Maison Pointue, as it is often called, is a severe building that overlooks the river Seine.
The three most important brgades of the police are stationed at the 36:
the Criminal Brigade, the famous Crim or the BC, stair A, third and fourth floors, that besides homicides and abductions for ransom, is charged to investigate arsons, outrages and on all those delicate affairs involving vips.  The town of Paris and close suburbs fall under the competence of the Crim that counts 110 men divided in three section of common right, divided in three groups of investigations and an anti-terrorism section with three groups of investigation;
the Brigade for Narcotics, nicknamed the Stups or the BDS, whose role is to contrast and desmantle the traffic of narcotics and to confiscate the drug of the gangs. Any year, various tons of narcotics are confiscated and destroyed by the men of the Stups;
the Brigade of Research and Intervention, aka the Antigang or the BRI, in short the SWAT of the French police. Itis a central brigade that depends on the Police Prefecture. In cases of crisis, this unit, that counts 48 members, can gather up to 72 cops in BRI-BAC (Anti.Commando Brigade) trim with the support of other units of the Prefecture. The BRI usually intervens to contrast criminal groups performing serious crimes such as holdups, kidnapping or hostage threatenings. Being equipped with up to date surveillance and listening devices, they are also charged to gather and archive any kind of informations regarding criminal organizations. In order to do so, they can set up surveillance systems or tailings that can last several days or even weeks.
The quai des Orfèvres and the cops working there, inspired several detective novels and movies. The last one, 36 quai des Orfèvres (2004) directed by Olivier Marechal and starring Gérard Depardieu and Daniel Auteuil, got a good audience.
